Rod McLean
We are delighted to present the work of a rising new star, and Fotoman Professional, Rod McLean.
Rod McLean lives in London, England, and shoots travel related images for publishing and advertising. Rod recently traded a successful 15 year career as a television editor for a challenging future as a freelance photographer.
Although he spends a fair amount of time in his native Ireland dodging showers while capturing the diverse Irish landscape, his real passion is travelling further afield.
"One feature that sets the Fotoman 617 apart for me is the ability to pair it with a vast array of current and discontinued lenses. I started using the camera in March 2007, initially with a Schneider 90/5.6 Super Angulon XL, followed by an out of production Nikon 210/5.6 W which I sourced second hand via the internet."
"I like to shoot in the early mornings and evenings when the light is isn't so harsh."
"The removable viewfinder means that I can compose images during daytime without the need to carry the camera and lenses. When I've pinned down a location I can come back later with the knowledge of exactly where I need to place the camera."
"The ground glass screen, offered as an optional extra, is a must as it allows for fine tuning compositions, accurate focusing, and precise alignment of ND filters."
